Some people and their kids..

It was a quiet night until about 8:00p, and then parents with six – count ’em, six – kids came in running, screaming and horsing around while their parents ignored them, finally leaving with ice cream in their hair and on the floor. None of the family had any concept of personal space (hard to pull off in a nearly-empty venue) and the gaggle of children averaged eight years old, definitely old enough to know better. My ears were actually ringing from the intensity of noise cancellation with noise generation, which I didn’t think was possible.

The venue staff handled it like champs, but any attendees would have instantly bailed outside.

I mention this because, every once in a while, people enter the venue that the host can’t control. What can I say, leaving your house can be high risk, it comes with being alive. Silence in the Library exists so that we don’t have to embrace these risks all by ourselves.

And we’re at this venue because afterwards, there’s ice cream. 😉
